I spent New Year’s Eve with Rufina of Being Rufina in Satellite Beach, FL. We have become extremely close since our paths crossed through the blogosphere. I truly appreciate the time I am able to spend with her. She has such a loving and peaceful energy, it’s calming…
I had shared with her how I had created an Altar of Intention in my home instead of setting a New Year’s resolution. I’ve never set resolutions for fear of breaking them.
But last year for the first time, I set an intention to experience Life to the fullest. It was an amazing ride… This year I have two intentions: All Forms of Love and Communication. Beginning with Self-Love and Communication with Spirit.
Rufina and I decided to create an Altar of Intention for New Year’s Eve. The timing AND setting were perfect. From the screened in balcony, we were soothed by the sound of the waves crashing and had a beautiful view of the moon and and her light shinning on the water…
By the light of the moon, we set up our water-themed altar; cleared the space; honored the forces of Earth, Air, Fire and Water; wrote down on a small piece of paper the one thing we were going to let go of in 2013 and symbolically burned them.
We then declared our intentions for 2013! I’m looking forward to seeing what 2013 brings!
What are your Intentions for 2013?

That act of burning what you want to let go of, truly unburdens the soul! I know, I have tried it
A very Happy New Year to you lovely ladies

Some of my followers may remember last September when I did the post Zully’s petals, after Zully (Spiritual World Traveler) and I met for the first time in person after having met through our blogs. Well, we recently connected again this past NY’s Eve; here is her lovely post on what we did that night. xo
The water-themed altar is lovely; but in the second photo I perceived something weird — something in form of an old man’s face???
I think the incense smoke is blowing us a kiss in that last photo!
A very special New Year’s Eve to remember indeed. Thank you for spending it with us!! I am interested to see what other’s think of the Altar of Intention. We did have the perfect setting for it, and all we needed to set our intentions for 2013, which naturally must include more visits and get-togethers. So glad that we are friends; I know there is a lot that I will continue to learn from sharing my life’s plate with you. xoxoxo
Awwww…i love both of you radiant ladies!!! I know that you were doing this for yourselves. But truly…the love you felt and anchored on this sacred night touched so many more than you can see!!! THANK YOU for being the beacons of Hope and Love!! I honor you both!!! ♥ Happy New Year Sweet Angels!!!!!
Thank you Alania! Happy New Year to you too! xo Rufina
Lovely! My husband and I wrote down the things we want to let go of on rocks and threw them in the river.
That is beautiful that your husband is “in tune” with you to actively participate in your intention for the coming year.
He’s a keeper!
Ms. Spiritual Traveler,
This is very interesting, you spend NYE in a very peaceful setting.
Believe it or not I do not set new year’s resolutions neither, I set realistic goal and I post them on my wall and cross them out as I accomplish them. I might say some goals are less of a priority so they show up on my list constantly…they have to do with dating, but the church has trained me well in this matter, and it is not a priority to me. In regards to one of my many goals for 2013, is to be more spiritual and to get more politically involved, to keep it brief.
BTW I love the pictures that go along with everything you mention, the visuals are amazing. You should think about making some of them into postcards.
