On my first trip to Egypt in May of 2011, the air was pretty hazy. Our guide, Mohamed kept telling us that we would be able to see the Pyramids as we drove throughout Cairo on our bus on a clearer day. We were unable to see the Pyramids until a few days into the journey. Nevertheless, my first view of these ancient and magical structures was breathtaking! Imagine walking around your city and seeing these all the time? Believe it or not, I met a few Egyptians who had never visited there…
As we were all excitedly taking pictures of the Pyramids as we drove by, I see this Doritos truck. This would be the first of many examples of the interwoven theme of irreconcilable dichotomies throughout this country.
Here is the Ancient with the Urban.
This is in response to the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Urban from last week.

Great photos, I mean modern buildings and pyramids at background. In 2011, we made Nile cruise visiting places like Luxor, Karnak and Assuan. It was an experience!
Yes, it’s a beautiful trip!
Thank you for stopping by!
A interesting capture of our modern times.
Thank you!

Seeing the pyramids for the first time through that urban sprawl was quite a shock to us too! Love your interpretation Zully
Thanks! Yeah, it is pretty shocking to see them as you drive around.
I guess I always pictured the pyramids in the middle of nothing, not with a city and Doritos trucks in front of them! LOL! Kind of a fun picture.
Me, too! It’s actually pretty urban around there! LOL Thanks!
Oh, and I forgot to tell you. There’s a KFC across the street. LOL
